The ChallengeTwo elevators at the Arts District Parking Garage were shut down. The TAC 20 control systems were obsolete, the original manufacturer no longer supported the equipment, and other companies had already declined the job. The shutdown created a real accessibility problem for the garage — particularly for visitors who couldn't use the stairs.
The SolutionWe returned both elevators to service. When one later reached the end of its safe operating life, we shut it down responsibly and focused resources on keeping the other running reliably. Along the way we repaired the selector system, hydraulic valves, elevator phone indicator, and cab fan, replaced a removed UPS, addressed a piston condition causing hammering at the jack, replaced worn packing causing oil leakage, and installed a scavenger pump to return oil to the tank rather than letting it overflow into the pit.
We also helped the City of Meridian understand code deficiencies the previous provider had missed and built accurate modernization pricing so they could plan and budget for the eventual upgrade responsibly.
The OutcomeReliable elevator access restored for Arts District visitors, including disabled visitors who depended on it. The city gained time to plan a responsible modernization on their own timeline rather than being forced into an emergency replacement.
